The blog as a whole was not inspired by anything other than the experiences I’ve had in life, thus far. However, the sign-off for each post was inspired by my late Grandpa Nick. Phrases like “YOLO” and “live life” weren’t something that really existed when he was growing up. However, he had plenty of “Nick-isms” which were a combination of dad jokes, inappropriate remarks, and pieces of life advice. His version of “YOLO” was always to eat dessert first, whether ordering pie à la mode at a restaurant at 9 a.m. or having ice cream before dinner. He often said that if you ate dessert first, you always had room for it. It’s something that stuck with me even after he passed. In my opinion, it’s a great reminder that life is short and you never know what’s around the corner. So do as Grandpa would do and always eat dessert first.
